- When applying for your Social Security Number
- When applying for health insurance
- When applying for a driver’s license
- When applying for an extension of stay
- It establishes your legal presence in the United States
- If your presence is questioned this document becomes necessary
- This document must be kept in your wallet or purse at all times.
